The Band
Tropix was formed in Fort Worth, TX in 1991. The band
initially focused on instrumental jazz fusion, performing a mix of
original material and music from other artists. Tropix released a CD in
1993 and had success performing in the DFW area for various events.
In 1995, singer Sam Tork joined Tropix, immediately increasing the
versatility of the band. Demand for the "new" Tropix skyrocketed, and
within a year Tropix claimed the position of house band at the 8.0 in Fort
Worth, one of the most popular night spots in Texas. The recent addition
of vocalist Stacia McNeil, along with the existing mix of sax, trumpet and
steel drums, gives Tropix a multifaceted sound and versatility that few
other bands can offer.
The band's roots in jazz, combined with their ability to cover nearly
any vocal tune, create a unique combination that allows Tropix to play an
increasingly diverse variety of venues and events.
